In a move that left the political establishment rattled, President Donald Trump issued a powerful and highly symbolic Memorial Day pardon—freeing a law-and-order conservative who had been targeted by what many see as Biden’s politically weaponized Department of Justice.
On Memorial Day, President Trump took decisive action to confront what he calls the corruption of the Biden DOJ by issuing a full pardon to former Culpeper County, Virginia Sheriff Scott Jenkins. Jenkins, a staunch conservative and longtime Trump ally, was preparing to report to prison this week after being convicted in December on federal corruption charges.
Rather than quietly accept what he believes was a politically motivated takedown, Trump made his stance clear in a Truth Social post:
“Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his wife Patricia, and their family have been dragged through HELL by a Corrupt and Weaponized Biden DOJ,” the President declared.
This pardon marks yet another example of Trump following through on his promise to fight back against what he and his supporters view as the Deep State’s use of lawfare to crush political dissent. Jenkins, who served honorably as Culpeper’s top lawman for more than ten years, was known for opposing federal overreach and for proudly defending the Constitution.
