According to campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, Donald Trump was recently briefed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on credible threats to his life, specifically from Iran. Cheung revealed that the assassination plots against Trump are real and have been in the works for months.
“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” said Cheung in a statement. He added, “Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference.”
Cheung did not mince words about Iran’s intentions: “Make no mistake, the terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris, and is terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump.”
This is not the first time Iran has been implicated in assassination plots against Trump. In a separate incident, federal authorities charged Asif Merchant, a 46-year-old Pakistani man, with a murder-for-hire plot targeting Trump. According to reports, Merchant’s plot was backed by Iran. Fortunately, the FBI was able to foil the attempt before it could be carried out.
Trump’s reaction to the latest assassination threats was swift. Taking to Truth Social, the former president warned Iran that any attack on a presidential candidate would be viewed as an act of war. Despite the danger, Trump sought to reassure his supporters that he is well-protected.
“Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again. Not a good situation for anyone. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before,” Trump wrote. He also thanked Congress for approving additional funds for his security, noting that both Republicans and Democrats came together on the issue.
