President Donald Trump has scored another monumental victory in his war against the mainstream media. This time, the target was CBS News’ flagship program 60 Minutes, which agreed to a massive $36 million payout over a scandal involving a deceptively-edited interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
The settlement, finalized on Tuesday, marks one of Trump’s most significant wins yet in holding media giants accountable for what he calls election interference and coordinated propaganda. In a Truth Social post announcing the settlement, Trump didn’t hold back:
“BREAKING NEWS! We have just achieved a BIG AND IMPORTANT WIN in our Historic Lawsuit against 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount.”
The legal battle erupted after CBS aired a controversial 2024 election cycle interview with Harris. According to Trump’s legal team, the broadcast selectively edited her responses—creating conflicting narratives that misled viewers. The deception sparked backlash and led to the lawsuit, which accused CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global, of manipulating coverage to benefit Democrats.
