Trump Just Announced a Ceasefire — Did They Agree?

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, unveiling a potential breakthrough in the war that has devastated both countries. But the announcement immediately raised questions after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had not been informed of any finalized agreement.

In a Truth Social post, Trump presented the proposed arrangement as an immediate commitment from both sides, warning Moscow and Kyiv against violating the terms.

“Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it,” the president announced in a Truth Social post.

The announcement could represent an important step toward reducing the destruction of power plants, fuel facilities, and other critical infrastructure. However, the absence of immediate confirmation from either government cast uncertainty over whether the arrangement had actually taken effect.
