The dramatic turnaround at America’s southern border is giving Republicans fresh ammunition as they push Congress to prevent a future administration from reversing President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
During the worst stretch of the Biden-era border crisis, Border Patrol agents were confronting staggering numbers of illegal crossings. At the December 2023 peak, roughly 336 illegal aliens were being processed every hour.
Under Trump, Republicans say the situation has been turned on its head.
