The Trump administration has delivered one of its most forceful blows yet to the radical green agenda pushed under former President Joe Biden, pulling the plug on tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer funded clean energy loans that officials say were rushed out the door with little oversight.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed Friday that nearly $30 billion in Biden era clean energy loans have already been canceled, with another $53 billion now under active review. The sweeping audit targets the Department of Energy’s loan portfolio and marks a dramatic shift in federal energy policy under President Trump.
According to administration officials, the review was launched to determine whether taxpayer money was responsibly invested or squandered in politically driven projects that failed to deliver real energy security.
“Over the past year, the Energy Department individually reviewed our entire loan portfolio to ensure the responsible investment of taxpayer dollars,” Wright said in a statement. “We found more dollars were rushed out the door of the Loan Programs Office in the final months of the Biden administration than had been disbursed in over fifteen years.”
