Former President Donald Trump took center stage once again in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, revealing on Wednesday that he had a “very good” conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The call followed his discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin just a day prior, as he works to bring both sides to the negotiating table.
“Just completed a very good telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs. We are very much on track,” Trump announced on Truth Social immediately after the hour-long discussion.

While Trump’s efforts resulted in Putin agreeing to a 30-day halt on attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the ceasefire did not extend to active battlefronts or civilian areas. Despite this limitation, Trump’s team remains optimistic that a broader peace deal is within reach.
Special envoy Steve Witkoff told reporters Wednesday that a full ceasefire could be achieved “in a few weeks,” though Ukrainian and European leaders have expressed skepticism.
