In a fiery declaration that’s igniting headlines and sports boards alike, President Donald Trump is putting the NFL on notice — change the name of the Washington Commanders back to the Redskins, or kiss their new stadium dreams goodbye.
Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday, throwing a political grenade into the NFL’s rebranding efforts. The former president made it clear he’s had enough of what he calls “woke nonsense,” and he’s ready to use his influence to reverse the cultural shift that led to the team’s name change.
“The Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this,” Trump wrote.
