Trump Assassin Plot Tied to Congress Members?

A man with a troubling past and international ties is now in federal custody after an alleged assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Ryan Wesley Routh, a convicted felon from Greensboro, North Carolina, was apprehended by Florida law enforcement on Sunday at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. The Secret Service opened fire after spotting Routh hiding in shrubbery near the golf course with a rifle. Although he initially fled the scene, authorities later captured him and charged him in federal court for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. More charges are expected as the investigation unfolds.

Routh, 58, has a criminal history dating back to a felony conviction in 2002. However, what has caught the attention of investigators and the media alike is his more recent activity abroad, particularly his involvement in Ukraine. In 2022, Routh made headlines for his attempts to recruit Afghan soldiers who had escaped the Taliban’s grasp, aiming to bring them into the conflict against Russia in Ukraine. His social media activity at the time was filled with posts showing strong support for Ukraine’s war efforts, fueling speculation about his political and military interests.

The story took an even stranger turn when it was revealed that Routh claimed to have been involved in a meeting with members of Congress in 2023. The details of this meeting remain murky, as it’s unclear which, if any, members of Congress were present. However, Routh mentioned in an interview that he had arranged a two-hour meeting in Washington, D.C., to discuss Ukraine and his attempts to recruit Afghan soldiers. This revelation has led many to wonder whether Routh’s political connections may have influenced his actions leading up to the assassination attempt.
