Inside the building, the officer encountered a student later identified as 27-year-old Jarrett Vick. Almost immediately, Vick launched into a heated confrontation, shouting at the officer and demanding answers about other individuals on campus.
“Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here,” Vick yelled, according to the footage.
The officer attempted to determine what was happening and explain why he was at the location. However, the exchange rapidly deteriorated as tensions rose between the two.
At one point, the officer warned Vick that continued disruptive behavior could result in detention and a possible Baker Act evaluation. Under Florida law, the Baker Act allows authorities to place an individual under involuntary psychiatric examination under certain circumstances.
Rather than calming down, Vick fired back with a challenge.
“f*cking try it,” Vick responded.
Recognizing that the encounter was becoming increasingly volatile, the officer radioed for assistance. Moments later, he informed dispatch that the student appeared to be experiencing a breakdown.
That statement immediately triggered another emotional outburst.
“She! She! Just say the right pronouns!” Vick screamed.
The officer appeared surprised by the reaction and replied, “What’d you say?” before the situation escalated further.
As the confrontation intensified, the officer deployed a can of pepper spray and attempted to gain control of the scene. The footage shows Vick moving around the room while refusing commands from law enforcement.
A second officer soon arrived to assist. Together, the officers attempted to place Vick under arrest, but the effort quickly turned into a prolonged struggle.
According to the footage, Vick forcefully resisted officers during the arrest. The confrontation lasted several minutes as officers repeatedly ordered Vick to comply.
Even after being taken to the ground, Vick allegedly continued resisting. Officers struggled to gain control of both arms while attempting to secure handcuffs.
The body camera footage shows law enforcement eventually using a Taser during the encounter. Despite that, officers continued having difficulty getting Vick into custody as the struggle carried on.
After Vick was finally restrained and placed inside a patrol vehicle, officers discussed what had just occurred.
According to the recording, officers stated that Vick had thrown punches and kicks during the confrontation. They also discussed whether a Baker Act evaluation might be appropriate following the incident.
One officer expressed concern about Vick’s mental state and future well-being.
“He’s gonna need some care,” the officer said. “He’s gonna need some care. There’s something wrong, and he definitely can’t be with the gen pop. They will destroy him.”
The footage was later published by Inside The Blue TV, where it gained significant attention and generated thousands of reactions online.
Court records cited by the New York Post show that Vick, a resident of Treasure Island, Florida, was charged on February 5, 2025, with battery on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
The records reportedly list Vick as male. A mugshot contained in Orange County court files also appears to show Vick without the blue wig seen in the viral video.
When contacted by The New York Post, Vick sharply criticized law enforcement’s actions and maintained that officers were responsible for the incident.

“f–king harassed by the cops,” Vick told the newspaper, adding that the viral attention had resulted in him “being harassed by the media.”
Court records indicate that Vick pleaded not guilty to all charges. The most recent listed court appearance reportedly occurred on January 16, and Orange County records show the cases were later marked as closed.
As the footage continues circulating online, the incident has reignited debate over police interactions on college campuses, mental health interventions, and the increasingly contentious disputes surrounding gender identity issues in public spaces. Regardless of where viewers fall on those debates, the extraordinary body camera footage has become one of the most widely discussed police videos to resurface this year.
