A peaceful afternoon at one of California’s most famous beaches turned into a nightmare when a helicopter came crashing down near Huntington Beach, leaving five people injured — including a child — and a crowd of stunned onlookers scrambling to help.
A Sunny Day Turns to Chaos
Witnesses described a horrifying scene as the helicopter spun out of control and slammed into a staircase near the Waterfront Beach Resort, barely missing pedestrians. The shocking moment was caught on video, showing the aircraft twisting violently before impact as debris flew across the air.
“The two people who were in the helicopter have been safely pulled from the wreckage, and three people on the street have sustained injuries,” said Huntington Beach Police Department spokesperson Corbin Carson. “All five individuals are being transported to the hospital for treatment.”
Miracle Amid Disaster
Despite the terrifying crash, all occupants survived — something first responders are calling a miracle. Footage showed beachgoers and bystanders rushing toward the twisted wreck to pull victims to safety as smoke filled the air. The quick action of those nearby may have saved lives.
