A leading Senate Democrat is facing mounting scrutiny over a potential pay-to-play scandal that has conservative watchdogs demanding an ethics investigation. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and his wife, Sandra Whitehouse, are at the center of controversy after an explosive report linked him to a non-profit group that has benefited from millions in federal funding.
The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), a conservative ethics group, has uncovered a troubling connection between Senator Whitehouse and Ocean Conservancy, an environmental organization where his wife has played a significant role. Over the past several years, the non-profit has secured up to $12.2 million in federal grants—most of which were approved through legislation backed by Whitehouse himself.

If evidence is produced, and indeed these two have been sponging off our government, they deserve to go to prison.
