Minneapolis is on edge, American citizens are dead, and the chaos isn’t a mystery—Democrats’ refusal to enforce the law is fueling the crisis.
In just three weeks, federal operations in sanctuary cities have led to two Americans being killed, streets filled with tear gas, and families terrorized in their own neighborhoods. Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy is calling out the root cause: sanctuary city policies that endanger communities.

McCarthy points squarely at the political leadership refusing to cooperate with federal authorities. Cities that shelter criminals already behind bars are forcing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hunt down individuals in neighborhoods, putting officers and civilians in harm’s way.
This isn’t speculation. McCarthy spent 25 years with the NYPD, eventually becoming Deputy Commissioner of Operations. He ran Newark’s police department, cutting murders by 28%, and later led the Chicago Police Department under Mayor Rahm Emanuel. His experience on the front lines is matched by personal loss: McCarthy’s daughter died from fentanyl, the drug flowing across an open border.
