Tim Walz Runs From Press After Fraud Allegations

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

According to multiple reports cited by conservative watchdogs, fraudulent schemes allegedly involved fake daycare facilities, sham healthcare operations, and manipulated billing practices designed to siphon taxpayer funds. Critics argue that instead of providing legitimate services, these operations existed largely on paper while collecting massive payouts from the state.

Estimates of the total financial damage vary, but watchdog groups claim Minnesota taxpayers may be on the hook for at least $9 billion in losses across multiple state programs. President Trump has gone even further, suggesting the true number could approach $18 billion, calling it one of the largest fraud scandals in modern state government history.

Despite the gravity of the allegations, Governor Walz struck a defiant tone during a Monday press conference. Rather than address specific fraud concerns or explain how such losses could occur under his administration, Walz shifted blame toward political opponents and conservative media figures.

“I don’t want to mince words here. Donald Trump and his allies in Washington and in Saint Paul and online want to make our state a colder, meaner place,” Walz said on Monday.

“They want to poison our people against each other by attacking our neighbors and ultimately, they want to take away much of what makes Minnesota the best place in the country to raise a family,” Walz added.

Walz also took direct aim at journalist Nick Shirley, accusing him—without evidence—of illegal conduct. The governor’s remarks drew immediate backlash from press freedom advocates and conservative commentators.

“We’ve got conspiracy theorist right-wing YouTubers breaking into our daycares, demanding access,” Walz said, defaming Nick Shirley.

Moments after making the accusation, Walz abruptly ended the press conference and exited the room without taking a single question. The move infuriated reporters, who openly voiced their frustration as the governor walked away.

“Wow! Alright then!” a reporter said.

“Thought you said you were gonna take questions! Why didn’t you?!” a reporter shouted.

The unanswered questions only intensified criticism, with many observers arguing the governor appeared unwilling—or unable—to defend his record. Critics say the sudden exit reinforced concerns about transparency and accountability at the highest levels of Minnesota’s government.

President Trump weighed in forcefully on the situation, issuing a blistering statement on Truth Social that accused Walz and other prominent Democrats of direct involvement in the alleged fraud.

“Minnesota’s Corrupt Governor will possibly leave office before his Term is up but, in any event, will not be running again because he was caught, REDHANDED, along with Ilhan Omar, and others of his Somali friends, stealing Tens of Billions of Taxpayer Dollars. I feel certain the facts will come out, and they will reveal a seriously unscrupulous, and rich, group of “SLIMEBALLS.” Governor Walz has destroyed the State of Minnesota, but others, like Governor Gavin Newscum, JB Pritzker, and Kathy Hochul, have done, in my opinion, an even more dishonest and incompetent job. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!” Trump said on Truth Social.

As investigations continue and public pressure grows, Walz’s sudden political exit raises serious questions about what state officials knew—and when. For many Minnesotans, the announcement offers little comfort as they demand answers, accountability, and assurances that taxpayer dollars will no longer be treated as an open checkbook.
