The Governor’s comments came after the horrific August 27 attack at Annunciation Catholic Church and School, where a transgender shooter killed two young children and injured 17 others.
Rather than address what led to the violence—mental health struggles, security failures, or lapses in prevention—Walz jumped straight to blaming firearms.
“The thing that makes America unique in terms of shootings is we just have more guns and the wrong types of guns are on the streets,” Walz said during a September 2 press conference.
Notice what’s missing: no mention of the shooter’s background, no acknowledgment of systemic failures, no focus on solutions that could actually stop future attacks. Just the same recycled talking points about banning weapons.
The push for new restrictions didn’t stop with Walz. Minnesota State Senator Zaynab Mohamed seized the moment to introduce a bill targeting .50 caliber rifles.
But here’s the catch—the church shooter didn’t even use a .50 caliber weapon.
According to police, attacker Robin Westman carried out the massacre with an AR-15 style rifle, a handgun, and a shotgun. He fired over 100 rifle rounds along with shotgun shells.
So why are Democrats pushing a ban that has nothing to do with what actually happened? Because the facts don’t matter. The crisis itself is simply a tool to advance an anti-gun agenda.
Time and again, we see the same playbook: a tragedy occurs, Democrats immediately propose bans that wouldn’t have stopped the attack, and anyone who objects gets labeled as unreasonable.
Meanwhile, the real issues—mental health, school safety, law enforcement failures—get brushed aside because they don’t serve the narrative.
Walz’s version of “compromise” doesn’t involve real fixes. It’s a demand for gun owners to give up rights while politicians collect talking points.
The Second Amendment isn’t a bargaining chip. It’s not something that can be “voted away” to make Walz feel like he accomplished something.
When Republicans refused to play along, Walz fumed, calling their stance “not acceptable.” In reality, it means his idea of compromise is that law-abiding citizens lose their freedoms while Democrats gain political ground.
If Walz were serious about solutions, he’d push to improve mental health care, strengthen school security, and enforce laws already on the books. But that takes work. Going after guns is easier—and it excites the Democrat base.
What’s most disturbing is how quickly Walz and his allies weaponized this tragedy. Instead of standing with families in mourning, they used the deaths of two children as leverage for policies that wouldn’t have saved them in the first place.
That isn’t leadership. It’s opportunism.
This isn’t about “common sense safety measures.” It’s about systematically chipping away at the rights of law-abiding citizens.
Gun owners in Minnesota—and across America—should pay close attention. Walz has dropped the mask. His goal is clear: disarm the people under the banner of “compromise.”
And if Democrats succeed here, they won’t stop in Minnesota. They’ll take the same failed playbook nationwide.

WALZ is the very worst example to ever represent WE THE PEOPLE and THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Give him a one way ticket to any other country in the world., just get him out of the US! He is a disgusting individual!
