One of Texas’ most reliably Republican counties delivered an encouraging opening-day turnout report Tuesday, with voters heading to the polls at a pace approaching the county’s performance during the 2024 presidential election.
Montgomery County, located just north of Houston, recorded 5,908 voter check-ins during the first hour of Election Day, between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to its unofficial turnout tracker.
The comparison with 2024 is particularly noteworthy. During the same opening hour of the presidential election, the county recorded 6,451 check-ins.
In other words, Tuesday’s turnout reached approximately 91.6% of the first-hour participation recorded during the 2024 presidential contest. The difference amounted to just 543 voters.
