Texas Map REINSTATED — Democrats PANIC!

Texas Republicans just scored a major win heading into the 2026 midterm season — and Democrats are already sounding the alarm. Justice Samuel Alito stepped in late this week and put the state’s newly drawn, GOP-favored congressional map back in place, at least temporarily, breathing new life into a redistricting plan that could dramatically reshape the battle for control of the House.

The reinstated map, according to Politico, could deliver as many as five additional Republican seats if it’s ultimately allowed to stand. That kind of shift would be devastating for Democrats who already face a steep climb to retake the majority.

For now, Alito’s order means Texas can continue preparing for its primary elections using the Republican-backed districts — a significant development considering the state had just asked the Supreme Court for emergency relief.

Texas officials wasted no time challenging a ruling from a lower court that had claimed the new boundaries were drawn with unconstitutional racial motives. State leaders strongly rejected that accusation, insisting their redistricting decisions were legal and primarily political — not racial.
