Joe Penland, a successful Texas businessman and longtime supporter of Donald Trump, isn’t sitting on the sidelines when it comes to one of America’s biggest financial crises. The founder of Quality Mat Company, known nationwide for its oilfield and construction mats, says the time to act on Social Security is now—and he’s betting on Trump to get it done.
“There is much reason for optimism,” Penland wrote in a Newsmax op-ed after Trump’s 2024 victory.
For Penland—known affectionately as “Joe from Texas”—the Social Security system is running on borrowed time. He believes Trump, as the 47th president, is in a unique position to secure its future before seniors face devastating benefit cuts.
“You couldn’t run your house, you couldn’t run your business if you spent thirty percent more than you take in every year,” he said in a recent interview, sounding the alarm about Washington’s reckless spending.
