A terrifying attempted carjacking in Texas ended with a father making a split-second decision that likely saved his entire family from catastrophe.
The incident unfolded Sunday afternoon in Garland, Texas, when an out-of-control suspect crashed multiple vehicles before turning a shopping center into the scene of pure chaos.
By the time it was over, the suspect was dead, seven innocent family members were unharmed, and yet another national debate over self-defense laws was reignited.
According to authorities, the situation began around 3:30 p.m. near Highway 66 and Dairy Road when a man driving a green vehicle slammed into two separate cars. Instead of staying at the scene, the suspect reportedly abandoned the wreck and sprinted toward a nearby gas station, where witnesses say he desperately tried to get inside several occupied vehicles.
Those attempts failed.
Moments later, the suspect crossed the street and approached a white Chevrolet Impala parked in a nearby shopping center.
