A frightening scene unfolded Monday morning in the heart of Lower Manhattan after an armed man allegedly ignited an incendiary device outside a major federal building, triggering a swift law enforcement response and a terrorism investigation.
The incident occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza, one of New York City’s most prominent federal complexes, where numerous government agencies maintain offices. Authorities say the suspect arrived at the location carrying a cart loaded with suspicious items, including long guns, fireworks, and other materials that immediately raised concerns among federal officials.
According to police and law enforcement sources, the chaos began around 8:30 a.m. when the suspect allegedly set off an incendiary device near the entrance of the federal building. The explosion and resulting fire drew immediate attention from law enforcement personnel stationed in the area.
