Swamp Drained: Bureaucrats Weep as 1,300 Fired!

Washington, D.C. — The State Department has kicked off a monumental purge of its workforce, pink-slipping more than 1,300 bureaucrats as part of a massive effort to trim government fat and streamline operations. And if Friday’s scenes are any indication, the so-called “deep state” is feeling the pain.

On Friday morning, employees began receiving stark notices informing them that their jobs were being “abolished,” marking the start of what officials warn is only the first wave in a broader plan that could eventually wipe out up to 3,000 positions. According to documents obtained by multiple outlets, the initial cuts wiped out 1,107 civil service jobs and 246 foreign service officer roles, for a total of 1,353 positions slashed.

As news spread inside the Harry S. Truman Building, emotions ran high. By mid-afternoon, numerous laid-off employees were seen exiting the State Department’s headquarters in tears, clutching boxes of personal belongings. According to the New York Post, “By afternoon, several laid-off staffers were spotted tearfully departing the State Department’s headquarters. They were met by a crowd of clapping supporters outside the Harry S. Truman Building, near the White House.”
