California Democrat Eric Swalwell built much of his national profile attacking former President Donald Trump and warning Americans about alleged foreign interference in U.S. politics.

Now the congressman finds himself facing a controversy of his own.
Swalwell, who is currently positioning himself as a candidate for governor of California, is drawing scrutiny after accepting tens of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from a Silicon Valley attorney with deep professional ties to Chinese business interests connected to the Chinese Communist Party.
Critics say the donations raise serious questions about foreign influence and political judgment, especially given Swalwell’s history with China-related controversies.
Donations From Lawyer With Chinese Government Ties
The donor at the center of the controversy is attorney Keliang “Clay” Zhu, who runs the Silicon Valley office of DeHeng Law Offices PC.
