Supreme Court Gives Trump Admin Another Big Win
The U.S. Supreme Court delivered another significant legal victory to President Donald Trump on Friday, clearing the way for his administration to revoke temporary legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan migrants living in the United States.
In a decisive emergency order, the high court allowed the Trump administration to move forward with ending Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan nationals, overturning a lower-court ruling that had blocked the policy. The decision immediately reshapes the legal landscape for more than 300,000 migrants who had been shielded from deportation and allowed to work under the program.
The ruling authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to begin enforcing the termination of TPS protections while the broader legal fight continues. As a result, Venezuelan migrants who previously relied on the program now face potential removal proceedings and the loss of work authorization.
The decision represents a major win for President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly argued that TPS was never intended to serve as a long-term immigration solution. Created by Congress in 1990, the program was designed as a temporary humanitarian measure for foreign nationals fleeing natural disasters, armed conflict, or other extraordinary conditions.
