State of the Union Shock: Tlaib Caught on Camera

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

While the Republican side of the chamber chanted “USA, USA!” Tlaib appeared to shout something else entirely. Some cameras suggested she was chanting “KKK, KKK!” Others speculated it sounded like “Canada, Canada.”

Either interpretation was bizarre. First, “Canada, Canada” seems hardly relevant for a congresswoman representing Michigan rather than Saskatchewan. Second, anyone who’s ever tried to pronounce “Canada” knows it requires touching the tongue to the roof of the mouth—something Tlaib clearly did not do. At best, she was screaming “Ca~aa~aaa! Ca~aa~aa!”

On the other hand, “KKK, KKK!”—if that’s indeed what she shouted—fits a disturbing pattern from Democrats throughout the night. Earlier, Texas Rep. Al Green invoked the tired “Trump is racist to the Obamas” trope, setting a tone that only worsened as the speech progressed.

Even President Trump seemed taken aback. “These people are crazy,” he told reporters after the address. “I’m telling you, they’re crazy.”

It’s hard to argue with that. The chaos highlighted a deep disconnect with history and common sense. The United States fought a brutal Civil War, sacrificing at least 600,000 lives, to abolish slavery. And yet here we are, watching the party that once gave shelter to the KKK insinuate a Republican president is the real threat?

Give me a break. America—and Canada, for that matter—deserve better than these theatrics. The spectacle was less about policy and more about pandering to outrage culture, leaving viewers scratching their heads and questioning the priorities of today’s Democratic Party.
