Stacey Abrams Floats Another Run!

After two humiliating defeats at the hands of Republican Governor Brian Kemp, Stacey Abrams appears ready to test her luck a third time — and Democrats aren’t exactly thrilled about it.

According to Democratic insiders, Abrams, now 51, is quietly laying the groundwork for yet another campaign for Georgia’s governorship. But while Abrams remains a recognizable name nationally, many in her own party are less than enthusiastic about a rerun they believe is destined for disaster.

“She’s run twice, and that’s enough to convince me she won’t win,” Jimmy Johnson, the former chair of the Appling County Democratic Committee, bluntly told the Constitution-Journal. “Can some other Democrat win? Abrams’ 2022 loss was even more devastating than her first, with a six-point decline compared to her 2018 effort. Party leaders, still licking their wounds, fear a third loss would only further erode their standing in a state that is slowly shifting but remains conservative at its core.
