Sports Journalist Confesses to Falling for False Accusations

A sports writer bravely steps up to address the obvious truth amid the false online criticism aimed at young Kansas City Chiefs fan Holden Armenta.

“I am an idiot,” he said.

Holden’s image is being scrutinized; it’s being compared to Nicholas Sandmann, who faced harsh criticism for a lie that was easily disproven by even the most basic fact-checking.

The young person has been the target of harsh criticism, but as of Thursday morning, Deadspin, the media outlet, had not changed their damning article from Monday.

Social media users are agitating Holden’s image after seeing it go viral, mistaking his deceptive Native American headdress for blackface.

It was noted that the boy’s face was partially painted red, which ought to have been more obvious, according to a community note on X. This is particularly significant because, according to reports, CBS featured him several times during Sunday’s Chiefs vs. Raiders game in Las Vegas.

Furthermore, the boy’s mother, Shannon Armenta, stated on Facebook that her son is also of Native American descent, ruling out that possibility.

Jack McGuire of Barstool Sports then apologized, saying, “I messed up,” for his role in defaming Armenta.

“Behind me is a Chiefs fan,” said in a video that was uploaded on Wednesday to TikTok.

“On Sunday, I took this photo” — the controversial one in question — “and said that he was wearing blackface and a headdress,” McGuire said.

“What I did not do is let more things come out about that photo,” the mea culpa continued, with McGuire noting “the other side of his face was red” and “as for the headdress, it has come out that he is Native American.”

“His grandfather is part of the Chumash tribe … I have since taken down this TikTok,” he said.

“And the apology should be as loud as the accusation,” McGuire continued. “So here is my TikTok saying I am sorry and also I am an idiot.”

While some recognized McGuire’s involvement, it was brought to light that the writer of the most disparaging piece on Deadspin still showed no signs of regret.

“The NFL’s Responsibility: Confronting the Kansas City Chiefs Fan in Offensive Attire” is a powerful essay written by Carron J. Phillips.

“They’re doubling up on the racism. Are you going to say anything, Roger Goodell?” the subheadline read, before going into a fantastically misleading lede: “It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time.”

Boy, oh boy. Naturally, all of this was covered in The Deeper Narrative on RaceTM.

“The answers to all of those questions lead back to the NFL. While it isn’t the league’s responsibility to stop racism and hate from being taught in the home, they are a league that has relentlessly participated in prejudice” Phillips wrote.

“There’s no place for a franchise to be called the ‘Chiefs’ in a league that’s already eradicated ‘Redskins.’”

Phillips is incredibly wrong in so many ways.

The franchise is called after a politician, H., even though it has arrowhead imagery. The adored mayor of Kansas City in the 1960s was Roe “Chief” Bartle. According to ABC News, Chief Bartle was instrumental in helping the team move to the city when the AFL’s Dallas Texans realized they couldn’t compete with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

But information that doesn’t support the narrative is frequently ignored.

Indeed, one writer admits his own foolishness for criticizing this ardent fan in the midst of the media’s indifference to their portrayal as idiots. Notwithstanding his flaws, Holden Armenta is nevertheless an important component in achieving the main goal.
