Speaker Johnson Vows: GOP Getting to Work!

Reiterating America’s strong support for Israel, House Speaker Mike Johnson stresses the value of cooperation between lawmakers and the Biden administration. He exhorts acceptance of the idea that America still has a divine mission to accomplish.

In his recent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Speaker Johnson revealed that the House is preparing a $14.5 billion support bill for Israel. This amount exceeds Israel’s reported request to the White House.

The House appropriation differs from previous forms of government assistance in that it won’t just generate extra money; instead, it will only be given in exchange for particular budget modifications.

Johnson makes it clear that the sum is a definite number connected to several metrics. He makes it clear that any new revenues must be offset by lower spending elsewhere.

Johnson sternly told President Joe Biden’s staff during a White House meeting that before taking any concrete action, they must first receive congressional approval because Israel is fighting against Hamas, which is backed by Iran.

He highlighted that Congress, not the executive branch, has the authority to declare war in accordance with the Constitution. This is so that important decisions can be made with the “multitude of wise counsel” that the Founding Fathers intended.

Israel constantly faces these “existential threats,” as Johnson noted, but Americans only talk about them occasionally. Their paths have previously crossed.

“Their neighbors want to eliminate them. America will back [Netanyahu] up – they tell us when we’re in Israel the reason we’re able to sustain ourselves and survive is because everybody knows our big ally is America,” Johnson said.

“But we have to take care of our own house first,” Johnson added.

“During the Trump administration, we had the greatest economy in the history of the world,” he said, adding it was “not by happenstance”—but through tax cuts, reining in regulation, and the expansion of energy production.

“We can achieve that again, but you have to do almost exactly the opposite of what the Biden administration is doing… we are trying to urge our Democratic colleagues to take a look at the basic facts…”

Johnson urges all Americans, whether or not they are involved in politics, to seize a “Ben Franklin moment” and gather the humility required to bravely face the impending challenges.

Franklin of Pennsylvania famously declared at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, “the longer I live, the more convincing proof I see that God governs in the affairs of men [and] without his concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.”

The Founders sought “divine guidance” in difficult times, Johnson said. This custom survived important historical eras like the American Civil War, the Great Depression, and both World Wars.

“We have ‘In God We Trust’ right above the rostrum [in the Capitol],” he continued by claiming that the phrase “not a quaint saying” but one that sets America apart from Communist, Marxist, and monarchical countries.

After weeks of Republican dispute, Johnson, a member of Congress since 2016, was named the new speaker on Wednesday. Despite barely being known, he has recently come into the limelight.

Donald Trump, a former president, most recently supported Johnson.

“I am not going to make an Endorsement in this race, because I COULD NEVER GO AGAINST ANY OF THESE FINE AND VERY TALENTED MEN, all of whom have supported me, in both mind and spirit, from the very beginning of our GREAT 2016 Victory,” Trump posted to Truth Social Wednesday morning. “My strong SUGGESTION is to go with the leading candidate, Mike Johnson.”

During the impeachment hearings, Johnson, a fervent Trump fan, vehemently supported the former leader and expressed doubts about the accuracy of the results of the 2020 election.
