Socialist Candidate Caught Living Off Parents!

In a stunning political twist in one of the West Coast’s priciest election battles, a self-proclaimed socialist supported by her parents’ wealth is on the brink of toppling Seattle’s veteran Democratic mayor.

Katie Wilson, who openly acknowledges that parental funds allow her to run a competitive campaign in high-cost Seattle, now holds a razor-thin lead of fewer than 100 votes over incumbent Bruce Harrell, according to the latest King County count. The two have swapped narrow advantages since Election Day, keeping the city on edge.

If Wilson maintains her slim lead, she could become the leader of a major metropolitan area with more than 4 million residents. Her potential victory reflects a wider surge for socialist-backed candidates in cities across the country, from New York to Virginia.

“Yes, I am a socialist,” Wilson told reporters earlier this year. “I’m not out here waving a socialist flag, because I’m not a super ideological person. I’m also not sure that label will help me in the general election. But yes, I’m fine with being called a socialist.”
