Sinema’s Epic Retaliation Against Democrats

It’s a story that lays bare the ruthless side of partisan politics. Democrats reportedly harassed former Senator Kyrsten Sinema to punish her for defending the filibuster. Now, she’s taking her voice to a conservative publication—and the same party that hounded her is left watching from the sidelines.

When the Party Turns on Its Own

Back in October 2021, Sinema faced fierce backlash for one offense: refusing to automatically back President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion spending plan. That resistance was enough to draw the wrath of radical activists.

A group called Living United for Change in Arizona followed Sinema as she left her classroom at Arizona State University. Reports say the activists tailed her into a women’s restroom and filmed her through a closed stall door. One stood outside, warning, “Just like we got you elected, we can get you out of office if you don’t support what you promised us.”

Asked about the incident, Biden dismissed it lightly: “I don’t think they are appropriate tactics, but it happens to everybody.” The media framed it as a protest, while MSNBC host Joy Behar labeled Sinema an “enemy of democracy.” Joy Reid mocked her online, posting, “Arizona, you up?” after Sinema penned an op-ed defending the filibuster. This was the Democratic Party’s unmistakable message: dissent is not tolerated.
