“Emergency Update!!!!!!!” Johnson wrote. “On Tuesday (SOTU) a House staffer gained entry into one of the House office buildings that leads to the U.S. Capitol. That staffer was in possession of a gun. He was eventually caught and arrested. What makes the problem even worse I’m told the staffer asked (after his arrest) what the problem was with this as no one said anything to him about him bringing the gun in the previous day.”
Repeated Security Failures Under Chief Manger
According to Johnson, this is not an isolated incident. He claims this is the fourth time a gun has made it past security under Chief Manger’s watch since Trump was first elected in 2016. Even more concerning, Johnson revealed that on both occasions when President Trump attended Capitol events, a firearm had been brought into a secured building—once even making it into a room just feet from the former president.
“This can’t happen!!!” Johnson declared. “I’m still getting more information on this and I’ll have another tweet tomorrow.”
Chief Manger Accused of Hiding the Truth
Johnson did not stop there. On Friday, he issued a direct challenge to Chief Manger, accusing him of attempting to cover up the breach.
“Message to USCP Chief J Thomas Manger:
Here we go again. Today, I just received the information of what occurred on Tuesday, March 4th on the day President Trump addressed the nation from the United States Capitol. You clearly are going to try to conceal it from the public as much as you can but you must understand it will not be possible for you to conceal anything as long as I am breathing.”
He continued, demanding a public explanation by noon on Monday.
“You have until 12 pm Monday morning to fully brief the American public of what occurred on Tuesday. If you do not, I will, and in the future, you will not be offered advance notice of these reports.”
A Pattern of Negligence?
Johnson has long been vocal about security failures within the Capitol Police. Just last week, he sent an explosive letter to Chief Manger outlining yet another alleged lapse in security for Trump. His frustration appears to stem from a growing pattern of what he views as negligence and misconduct within the department.
This is the same Capitol Police force that fired sound grenades, tear gas, and rubber bullets at Trump supporters on January 6, 2021. It is also the same department that, according to eyewitness accounts, brutally beat demonstrators during that fateful day.
