In a recent episode of his “War Room” podcast, Steve Bannon, a former strategist for President Donald Trump, delivered a scathing critique of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe following McCabe’s appearance in a CNN interview. Bannon, who is set to serve a four-month prison sentence starting July 1 for contempt of Congress, vehemently criticized McCabe’s leadership at the FBI, labeling the agency under his deputy directorship as akin to a “Gestapo.”
During his podcast, Bannon did not mince words, promising a reckoning for McCabe. “McCabe, you were the deputy at the American Gestapo and you are going to suffer the consequences,” Bannon declared, setting the tone for what he described as “Accountability Day,” scheduled for January 20, 2025.

Bannon’s comments came in response to McCabe’s fears expressed during the CNN segment. McCabe shared his concerns about potential repercussions for himself and others in the intelligence community should Trump secure a second presidential term. “It is terrifying, it’s frightening,” McCabe stated, revealing the anxiety among former intelligence and law enforcement officials who served under the Obama administration about being unconstitutionally detained.
