A surprise development occurred as a result of Senator Lindsey Graham’s journey to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Interior Ministry of Russia issued an arrest warrant for Graham less than 48 hours after his visit.
The arrest warrant was issued after a video of Graham proclaiming that it was the “best money we’ve ever spent” and that “The Russians are dying” went viral and took over Twitter.
The Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, was cited as stating “It’s hard to imagine a greater shame for the country than having such senators.”
Here is the footage that prompted the issuance of Graham’s “arrest warrant”:
The Associated Press reports:
Due to his comments about the crisis in Ukraine, US Senator Lindsey Graham was issued an arrest order by the Russian Interior Ministry.
Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, mentioned that “the Russians are dying” in an edited video of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that was made public by Zelenskyy’s office. He also called the U.S. military aid to the nation “the best money we’ve ever spent.”
Graham’s remarks were discovered in a film put together by the Ukrainian presidential office, which greatly incensed the Russian public. His comments were spoken at various moments in the dialogue initially, but their juxtaposition in the video heightened the fury.
The head of RT Media Company is furious with Senator Graham and demands his death.
In the current war between Russia and Ukraine, the GOP appears to oppose peace talks and favor further aggression.
