A serious security scare unfolded outside the White House late Tuesday night after a driver rammed their vehicle into a Secret Service gate — just a few hundred feet from where President Donald Trump was located at the time.
According to the U.S. Secret Service, the incident occurred at around 10:37 p.m. near the 17th & E Street NW entrance in Washington, D.C. The agency confirmed the alarming breach in a post on X, stating, “At approximately 10:37 p.m., an individual drove a vehicle into the Secret Service vehicle gate located at 17th & E St, NW, in Washington, DC.”
Agents on the scene immediately sprang into action. “The individual was arrested & the vehicle was assessed and deemed safe. Our investigation into the cause of this collision is ongoing,” the agency added.
NBC News also quoted the Secret Service confirming, “The individual was immediately arrested by U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers, and the vehicle was assessed by Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe.”
