The controversy surrounding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s claims about his military service has intensified, following his recent nomination as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate.
Following Kamala Harris’s announcement of Walz as her vice-presidential pick on Tuesday, a storm erupted over a resurfaced video in which Walz allegedly made false claims about being a combat veteran. The fallout has been swift and severe, with the press demanding answers and Walz remaining conspicuously silent.

A 2007 interview with CSPAN has become the focal point of the scandal. In the video, Walz asserts, “I spent 24 years in the National Guard, some of that full-time. I was an artilleryman. I deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. My battalion provided base security throughout the European theater from Turkey to England in the early stages of the war in Afghanistan. And that same battalion is now in Iraq at this time.”
