Obama’s 2016 Memo Created a Highway Safety Nightmare
In 2016, President Obama issued a memo that dramatically weakened safety enforcement for commercial drivers. Under his guidance, inspectors were told to issue citations instead of taking unsafe drivers off the road when they failed English-language requirements.
“We’ve now knocked 9,500 truck drivers out of service for failing to speak our national language – ENGLISH!” Duffy posted on X, highlighting the scope of the problem.
