Federal funding for SNAP benefits, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that provides food assistance to millions of low-income households, ran dry on November 1st. That means the so-called “party of compassion” effectively cut off food benefits to children and families while blaming Republicans for it.
Meanwhile, the legal chaos surrounding SNAP funding is still playing out. On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in and temporarily blocked a lower court’s order requiring the Trump administration to continue funding the program for November. That decision highlighted the deep dysfunction created by Schumer’s obstructionist tactics.
Despite the mounting evidence and public frustration, Schumer remained defiant on Monday morning, continuing to blame President Trump and Republicans for the crisis — even after his own party members publicly acknowledged responsibility.
For many Americans, Durbin’s remarks were the final straw. His admission revealed what conservative Americans already suspected: Democrats were willing to use the livelihoods of ordinary families as bargaining chips to damage Trump politically.
