In a bold move that reignited global attention, President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered two American nuclear submarines into strategic positions near Russia—setting off alarm bells and drawing a dismissive reaction from the Kremlin.
The former President’s decisive message was posted Friday on Truth Social in direct response to incendiary rhetoric from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now serving as Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
“Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation,” Trump wrote, “I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.”
By Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov attempted to downplay the situation. Speaking to the press, he brushed off the seriousness of Trump’s move and instead pivoted toward standard talking points.
