“You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends,” she continued. “I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country and when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”
O’Donnell, never one to shy away from political commentary, took a swipe at the media for supposedly failing to hold Trump accountable and called on Americans to push back against his leadership.
“The mainstream media has been letting us all down in America, where the fourth estate is required to maintain a democracy,” she said. “They haven’t been doing their jobs.”
She then urged citizens to take action, claiming democracy was at stake.
“I encourage everyone to stand up, to use their voice, to protest, to demand that we follow the constitution in our country, and not a king and not a man, and we don’t have cruelty as part of our governing style,” O’Donnell added.
The former TV star also revealed that she is in the process of securing Irish citizenship through her family lineage.
O’Donnell’s highly publicized feud with Trump has been ongoing for years, dating back even before his presidency. Her departure makes her one of the latest Hollywood elites to flee the country following Trump’s political resurgence.

She’s not alone. Other celebrities have also chosen to leave, with Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, making the move to the United Kingdom before Trump even took office.
While O’Donnell claims she left for political reasons, many critics see it as another dramatic stunt from the out-of-touch Hollywood elite. Whether or not she follows through on her promise to return when America meets her standards remains to be seen.
