RNC Chair Drops Nickname That Left Democrats Furious

The battle for Texas’ U.S. Senate seat is already turning into one of the most closely watched races in the country, and Republicans wasted no time going on offense after Attorney General Ken Paxton secured a dominant primary victory.

Paxton’s overwhelming defeat of longtime Senator John Cornyn sent shockwaves through Texas politics. After serving in Washington for nearly a quarter century, Cornyn’s political future came to an abrupt halt when Republican voters handed him a crushing loss.

But while the Republican primary may be over, the general election fight is only beginning.

And according to Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters, Democrats have nominated exactly the wrong candidate to win over Texas voters.

During a recent appearance on Newsmax, Gruters unloaded on Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico, accusing him of embracing positions that many Texans view as far outside the political mainstream.

The exchange began when Newsmax host Sharla McBride asked how Republicans intended to maintain their grip on the Lone Star State this November.

Gruters did not hesitate.
