In a move shaking up the Kentucky political landscape, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has officially thrown his support behind his close ally and fellow libertarian, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who faces a Trump-backed challenger in the upcoming Republican primary.
Just days ago, former President Donald Trump endorsed Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL and outspoken MAGA loyalist, urging voters to replace Massie in 2026. The endorsement came after Trump criticized Massie for pushing the administration to release every remaining document tied to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal — an effort that has drawn national attention.
While tens of thousands of Epstein-related files have already been made public, Massie insists there’s more the American people deserve to see. His push for full transparency, along with his reputation for challenging both parties, has often placed him at odds with GOP leadership and even the former president himself.
Massie’s record includes opposing Trump’s summer spending package and warning that military operations must not be launched without congressional authorization — a stance that infuriated the party’s more hawkish factions.
