Law enforcement has now confirmed the identity of the Minneapolis Catholic school shooter. Authorities revealed the suspect had been known by two names: Robert Westman and Robin Westman.
According to Fox News, court documents show that when the suspect was 17, Robert Westman legally changed his name to Robin. The filing, submitted by the mother, stated the “minor child identifies as female and wants her name to reflect the identification.” A judge approved the change in 2020.
The violent attack shocked the Minneapolis community. Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that the suspect, a man in his early 20s, opened fire during morning mass at a Catholic school. The tragedy left at least two children dead, with 14 more children injured, along with three adults.
Officials reported that the suspect entered the building heavily armed, carrying a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun. Investigators believe this was not a random act, but a targeted assault on churchgoers.
