The area’s electric car charging stations have turned into a resting spot due to the recent frigid conditions, according to a Fox Chicago story. The temperature in the Windy City and its suburbs has dropped to double digits below zero throughout the last two days.
Tyler Beard has been at the Oak Brook Tesla supercharging station all afternoon on Sunday, attempting in vain to power his Tesla.
Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent. And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday.
Beard was among the several Tesla owners who were frustrated trying to refuel their cars at the Oak Brook charging station. According to Fox 32 Chicago, there have been instances of abandoned cars and lengthy lines at other charging stations in the Chicago region, thus this is not an unusual incident.
After learning that her automobile could not be charged, Chalis Mizelle was forced to leave it and ask a friend for a ride.
“This is crazy, it’s a disaster. Seriously,” she said.

Kevin Sumrak claims that he found his Tesla entirely dead when he arrived at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Sunday night. Consequently, he was forced to hire a flatbed tow truck to locate a working charging station.
Tesla has not commented on the issue despite many questions from the media.
