Residents across New Jersey are reporting a phenomenon that seems ripped straight out of a sci-fi thriller: massive, vehicle-sized drones flying low over neighborhoods at night. Equipped with bright navigational lights, these drones execute maneuvers that defy typical flight patterns, leaving residents mystified—and uneasy.
“It’s kind of unsettling,” said Mike Walsh, a resident of Randolph. “Some are very big, probably the size of a car.”

A Statewide Enigma
From Middletown to Lakewood, similar scenes have unfolded. Witnesses describe drones hovering motionless, darting sideways, and rocketing upward at astonishing speeds. One observer, identified as Read, shared: “One is stationary, the others are in and out of the tree line. It’s strange. They’re out there for hours, never during the day.”
