In addition to concerns about illegal voting, the poll also revealed broad support for mass deportations of illegal immigrants. The issue has been a hot topic since President Joe Biden took office in 2021, with more than 6 million illegal aliens reportedly entering the United States during his presidency.
According to the poll, 54 percent of Americans favor the policy of mass deportations. A sizable 30 percent of respondents said they “strongly support” the measure, while an additional 24 percent indicated they “somewhat support” it. The results suggest a growing appetite for stricter immigration policies, especially among conservative-leaning voters.
However, not all respondents agree with this approach. The poll found that 20 percent were “somewhat opposed” to mass deportations, while 23 percent expressed strong opposition. Four percent of respondents chose not to answer the question.
The poll also highlights the public’s perception of how political leaders handle illegal immigration. A plurality of respondents, 44 percent, believe that former President Donald Trump is better suited to address the immigration crisis compared to Vice President Kamala Harris. In contrast, just 34 percent of participants felt Harris would do a better job managing the situation.
Trump has made immigration a key issue in his political platform, and the poll results suggest that many Americans trust his leadership on this front. His promise to reintroduce policies like mass deportations has garnered significant support from voters, particularly those frustrated with the current administration’s handling of the border.
As concerns over illegal noncitizen voting and immigration enforcement grow, lawmakers have introduced the “SAVE Act” as a potential solution. The legislation, which House Democrats have so far refused to pass, aims to implement stricter reviews and safeguards to prevent noncitizens from participating in U.S. elections.
If enacted, the SAVE Act would require state election officials to verify citizenship status before providing voter registration forms. The bill would also give states access to federal agency databases, allowing them to remove noncitizens from voter rolls and verify citizenship for individuals who cannot provide proof.
One of the most significant concerns addressed by the SAVE Act is the lack of citizenship verification required for federal voting forms. A report from the New York Post recently found that noncitizens have been receiving voting forms in 49 states, a loophole that the SAVE Act intends to close.
The legislation would also direct the Department of Homeland Security to investigate and potentially conduct removal proceedings if a noncitizen is found to have illegally registered to vote in federal elections.
Despite ongoing concerns about illegal immigration, the poll revealed that many Americans are frustrated with the current administration’s lack of action. Since President Biden took office, more than 7 million illegal aliens have crossed the U.S. border, a figure that does not include those who have evaded detection, often referred to as “gotaways.”

The massive influx of illegal immigration has only intensified calls for stronger border enforcement and immigration policies. With public sentiment leaning toward stricter measures, it’s clear that the issue of illegal immigration will play a significant role in shaping political debates leading up to the 2024 elections.
The results of the Scripps News/Ipsos poll shed light on a nation deeply divided over the issue of illegal noncitizen voting and immigration. As the election season heats up, these concerns will likely fuel political discourse, with candidates on both sides of the aisle being pressed to address voter concerns about election integrity and immigration reform.
With over half of the respondents supporting mass deportations and many trusting Trump to handle the issue better than the current administration, the road to the 2024 elections could see immigration policy take center stage once again. Whether through legislation like the SAVE Act or renewed enforcement at the border, it’s clear that Americans are demanding action on these critical issues.
