At a Tuesday White House event, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy decided to raise a bizarre topic that had been circulating online. Over the Labor Day weekend, Trump hadn’t appeared in public for a short stretch, and the rumor mill went into overdrive. Millions were convinced something terrible had happened.
“Completely different, but about a big viral social media trend over the weekend,” Doocy began. “How did you find out over the weekend that you were dead? Did you see that?”
Trump’s immediate response showed he had no idea what was going on. “No,” he said flatly.
Doocy explained further: “People didn’t see you for a couple of days. 1.3 million user engagements as of Saturday morning about your ‘demise.’”
