During Friday’s impeachment hearings, the attorney for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton made an ardent closing argument, proclaiming that the Bush family’s reign of terror over Texas politics was coming to an end.
This year, the GOP-controlled Texas House of Representatives quickly removed Paxton from office. Surprisingly, no proof was offered before lawmakers hurriedly decided to remove him from office during the Memorial Day weekend.
The Senate held an impeachment trial last week.
Attorney Tony Buzbee for Paxton shocked the jury in his closing argument by claiming that Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan was drunk during the pivotal impeachment vote. The shocking information comes after Phelan’s slurred speech and dubious conduct during a peculiar hearing barely a week before.
“Dade Phelan, got his feeling hurt,” Buzbee said. “He was so drunk handling the House business, knowing full well that there was no evidence to support an impeachment – and they hadn’t done their homework. Ken Paxton says ‘hey man, you embarrassed the devil out of yourself. You should resign.’”
“They sped up the process and impeached this man,” He pointed at Paxton and continued.
The dominant Bush political family, which has long dominated Texas politics, was then attacked by Buzbee.
“George P. Bush decided, ‘let me re-up my law license, because maybe I can be the attorney general now.’ I couldn’t beat him in a fair fight, maybe I can beat him here,” said Buzbee. In the GOP primary, George Prescott Bush ran against Paxton but lost.
“And every one of these so-called whistleblowers, which are nothing but disgruntled ex-staffers, they all hired the same lawyer,” Buzbee continued. “Who just happens to be at Ashcroft Law firm, who just happens to be a protege of the Bush regime.”
