Ohio Early Vote Numbers Stun Democrats

The analysis examined 838,018 early and absentee ballots. Of those, 469,219 were attributed to Republican voters, compared with 360,979 associated with Democrats. Another 4,092 ballots were placed into a separate category.

The resulting numbers give Republicans a projected advantage of 108,240 ballots — a potentially important cushion as the campaign approaches its conclusion.

The analyst’s model also projected that Republicans could ultimately receive between 52% and 58% of the vote, while Democrats could capture between 41% and 47%. Overall voter turnout was estimated at approximately 55%.

While these projections should not be confused with confirmed votes for individual candidates, the numbers offer an encouraging indication of Republican participation heading into Election Day.

For Husted, the early voting picture could prove especially important.

The Republican senator was appointed to replace JD Vance following Vance’s departure for the vice presidency. He now faces Brown, a familiar political figure in Ohio who is attempting to return to the Senate.

Democrats are hoping Brown can reclaim the seat, but Republicans have several advantages working in their favor. Ohio has become increasingly Republican in recent presidential elections, giving the GOP a stronger political foundation than it enjoyed in previous election cycles.

And early voting is only one part of the Republican Party’s growing financial and organizational advantage.

President Trump and his political allies have assembled an enormous fundraising operation designed to help Republican candidates compete in critical races across the country.

Trump’s flagship super PAC, MAGA Inc., entered September with approximately $416 million available, according to federal campaign finance disclosures.

The organization subsequently distributed substantial sums to other Trump-aligned political groups, including a $200 million transfer to No Going Back PAC and another $25 million to Safety and Affordability PAC.

Those financial commitments helped fuel an aggressive advertising operation supporting Republican candidates nationwide.

The Associated Press reported that political organizations aligned with Trump had deployed nearly $277 million since September.

Despite that extraordinary level of spending, MAGA Inc. still possessed more than $164 million as of October 14. That leaves the organization with significant financial resources to support Republican efforts during the final stretch of the campaign.

Trump has also indicated that his broader political operation intends to spend more than $400 million before Election Day.

Among the prominent contributors supporting Republican-aligned political efforts are billionaire Elon Musk, businesswoman Diane Hendricks, investor Stephen Schwarzman and casino magnate Steve Wynn.

The financial advantage extends beyond Trump’s political network.

Republican national committees have also maintained a considerable lead over their Democratic counterparts, providing the party with additional resources for congressional races.

Reuters reported that three major Republican committees ended September with approximately $187 million in available cash.

The disparity in campaign spending was equally striking. Between July and September, Republican committees spent roughly $137 million on coordinated congressional campaign activities, compared with approximately $55 million from Democratic organizations.

The National Republican Congressional Committee also reported raising $50 million during the third quarter. It entered October with approximately $61 million available.

Although much of that money is directed toward House contests, the figures highlight the Republican Party’s ability to finance an extensive national campaign operation.

Ohio Republicans have also received an important endorsement from one of the state’s most influential law enforcement organizations.

On July 21, the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio announced its statewide Republican endorsements, backing Husted in the Senate race as well as Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and his running mate, Rob McColley.

The endorsement represents a significant show of support from an organization representing police officers throughout Ohio.

Ramaswamy welcomed the announcement, emphasizing that public safety and support for law enforcement would remain central priorities of his campaign.

“I am very honored to receive today’s endorsement from the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio (FOP). This is a big deal and a monumental endorsement – from the largest union representing police officers in our state – after they went through a rigorous process with both candidates. Grateful for the support of law enforcement across Ohio. We’re behind you all the way as we restore law and order in our communities and proudly back the blue.”

The endorsement gives Republicans another opportunity to highlight their law-and-order message as voters consider the direction of the state.

Taken together, the developments paint an encouraging picture for Ohio Republicans heading into the final day of the 2026 midterm campaign.

The GOP has a substantial projected early voting advantage, a formidable network of political donors, significant advertising resources and the backing of a major statewide law enforcement organization.

None of those factors guarantees victory. Early voting models are not final election results, and financial advantages do not automatically translate into votes.

Nevertheless, Republicans appear to be entering Election Day with considerable momentum.

The stakes are particularly high for Husted, whose contest against Brown could have important implications for the balance of power in Washington.

The final verdict now belongs to Ohio voters. On November 3, Republicans will discover whether their early voting advantage, financial firepower and statewide political support are enough to deliver another major victory at the ballot box.
