Obama Loyalists Turn MAGA!

A new trend in American voting has emerged, surprising analysts as low-income, non-college-educated voters—historically loyal to Democrats—are now swinging in support of Donald Trump. This demographic shift reflects a major realignment in party support, where those traditionally aligned with the Democratic Party have gravitated towards the former president, citing economic and cultural concerns.

Recent exit poll data underscores this shift, showing that Democrats now find stronger support among wealthier, college-educated voters, while Trump appeals more broadly to low-income, working-class Americans. According to recent figures, 55 percent of college graduates and 51 percent of individuals earning over $100,000 favored Kamala Harris. In contrast, a majority of non-college-educated, lower-income voters now support Trump, with 56 percent of voters without a college degree and 50 percent of those making under $50,000 backing him—compared to the 47 percent who backed Harris.

This trend reveals a remarkable turnaround from twelve years ago, when Democratic candidate Barack Obama had strong support among working-class voters without college degrees, while Republican Mitt Romney commanded a base of affluent, highly educated voters. In the 2012 election, only 35 percent of those in the lowest income bracket voted for Romney, while 63 percent backed Obama. This shift suggests a deepening education-income divide in American politics, which has transformed over the last few decades.
