During a recent visit on the Pod Save America podcast, former President Barrack Obama called on all Americans to realize that “all of us are complicit to some degree” in the continued “occupation” of Palestine by the Israeli government.
Regarding the political situation in the Palestinian territories, the former president stated, “If there is any chance of us being able to act, constructively to do so, it will require an admission of complexity,” He continued by saying that in order to find answers, people must embrace viewpoints that “may seem contradictory,” adding that “what Hamas did was horrific.”

After raising some eyebrows, the former president said that “the occupation” being carried out by the Israeli government is unsustainable. “What’s happening to the Palestinians is unbearable.”
Obama continued by pointing out that there is an increase in anti-Semitic and anti-Israel attitude and that innocent people are dying in Palestine. The former president stated, “We can go on for awhile,” before talking about “social media activism.”

“And the problem with social media and ‘Tik Tok activism’ and trying to debate this on that, is you can’t speak the truth. You can pretend to speak the truth, you can speak one side of the truth, and in some cases you can try to maintain your moral innocence. But that won’t solve the problem,” he continued. “So if you want to solve the problem, then you have to take in the whole truth. And you then have to admit, nobody’s hands are clean. That, all of us are complicit to some degree.”
