The Grammy-winning entertainer sparked outrage after posting her reaction on X following the jury’s decision, a verdict that many Americans viewed as a straightforward case of justice being served.
Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years behind bars after jurors found him guilty in the killing of Austin Metcalf, a 16-year-old football and track standout whose life was cut short during a shocking incident at a Texas championship track meet.
The tragic event occurred in April 2025 at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas. According to testimony presented during the trial, Metcalf was stabbed during an altercation that quickly escalated into deadly violence. Prosecutors argued that Anthony initiated the confrontation, while numerous eyewitnesses reportedly backed that version of events during the proceedings.
